Event Design: Black & Gold Wedding | Asian Art Museum, San Francisco

From Ubering it to their wedding day, taking photos in China town, and having a Karaoke after party...this bride and groom are truly San Franciscans with amazing personalities. Jaya and JP hired me to do the event design for their wedding that took place at the beautiful Asian Art Museum in San Francisco.

The museum has some amazing architecture that we knew we wanted to play off of. We incorporated some art deco and architectural pieces with a few vintage elements. Black and gold served as the perfect color palette giving the wedding a chic feel.

The dining tables were covered in a shimmery black linen from La Tavola and topped with Murano gold chargers from Hartmann Studios. The chic menus were provided by Wedding Paper Divas and had a gorgeous bracket trim. Since the wedding was taking place in a museum we wanted each centerpiece to feel like an art piece. Asiel Design has some amazing pieces that were perfect for this wedding. The low florals were a combination of hydrangeas and roses with gold spray painted leaves and black ostrich feathers. The flowers were held by gold painted urns and placed on antique oval mirrors. The tall centerpieces were an ornate iron stand which held floating candles. I knew I wanted to do something special for the bride and groom chairs so to incorporate some vintage elements I made an embellishment which consisted of hanging pearls, gold spray painted wooden flowers, and black ostrich feathers.

As guests arrived they were greeted by the grand staircase which had high and low candles cascading down. Place cards were placed on each setting and were hand made to incorporate a black ostrich feather and pearl. Instead of the traditional guestbook we had advice cards that were again provided by Wedding Paper Divas that guests could pin to a black ornate frame.
