Event Design: Nautical Themed First Birthday | Quinlan Community Center, Cupertino CA

All Aboard! We are very excited to announce that this Nautical Themed 1st Birthday has been featured on the Inspired By This blog! Lia and I had the pleasure of designing this party for an adorable little captain named Viraj. We had an amazing time working with his mom Deepti to understand her vision and help execute it. Thank you Deepti for allowing us to create something so adorable for your little guy.

As guests arrived they were greeted by a display of crates and fishing net that had a life ring that said “Welcome Aboard”. It was the perfect way to set the scene for the rest of the party.
The dining tables were covered in the perfect linen to tie in the theme. They were navy blue with a white rope pattern. The centerpieces were wooden boxes that we embellished with anchors and filled with red, white and blue flowers. Each guest had a utensil packet, which was made out of a red and white striped favor bag with twine wrapped around with an anchor. The favors were little jars filled with red, white, and blue m&ms with an anchor tag.

The kids had a special table of their own. They each had individual red pails that had fun goodies inside. They also got a sailor hat which we hung off the side of the kid’s chairs. The birthday boy got a special treatment on the back of his chair.

We also continued the theme through the drink table. We displayed glasses that had been embellished with anchor tags and displayed them on wooden crates to create a high and low effect. A bunting banner with different patterns hung across the front of the table.

The dessert table was a hit! The backdrop was a life ring with bunting banners hanging on the sides. We found this amazing wooden shelf to hold some of the desserts. My favorite dessert was the sailboat sugar cookies on a stick that we displayed propped up on wooden crates. The cake was also amazing and had all types of elements that fit with the nautical theme.

Event Design: Ice Cream Themed 1st Birthday | Los Gatos, CA

We are very excited to announce that Yasmeen's Ice Cream Themed 1st Birthday has been featured on The Little Umbrella! We love how all the sweet details came together and the pretty pastels and sparkling gold glitter color palette. This family was so adorable and it was a pleasure to put something special together for little Yasmeen.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! I had the pleasure of designing an ice cream themed first birthday for an adorable little girl. The color palette was pastels and gold glitter. As guests arrived they were greeted by a sign that said “welcome to Yasmeen’s ice cream parlour”.

The dining tables were covered in a pink and white striped linen. For the centerpieces I purchased pastel colored mason jars and glittered the bottoms. The flowers were a mix of hydrangeas and pastel colored roses. My client loves the confetti filled balloons so we spread them across the backyard. We cut the confetti out of tissue paper that matched the party and filled them in clear balloons. The tissue paper sticks to the sides of the balloon and provides a fun affect.

The drink table had a lot of different options. One of the drinks was an ice cream punch that had been made out of rainbow sherbet. We had milkshake glasses like the ones you would get at a parlour to serve the punch in. We also purchased fun polkadot paper straws and added a little tag with ice cream cones.

The kid’s area had to be my favorite part of the whole party. My client had this amazing wooden arbor that we were able to drape with pink chiffon. I also made large ice cream cones and hung them from the arbor to look as if they were floating above the kids tables. The cone was made out of brown cardstock and the ice cream part was a foam ball that was covered with fabric with ruffles attached around. Each of the kids got their own little goodie bag which was filled with all ice cream themed toys. There was even a section for them to make their own play dough ice cream!

For the dessert table we hung a garland backdrop that we had made out of strips of fabric. We also hung the ice cream cones to add to the backdrop. Since we were having an ice cream truck come later in the day, we wanted to keep the dessert table light. The cake was an ombre ruffle cake that we had topped with a “ONE” banner. The favors were ice cream cone sugar cookies that were standing straight up on a wooden stand.

The highlight of the party is when the ice cream truck surprised all the guests. They served up all sorts of unique flavors and had a self-serve topping bar. The kids (and adults) loved it!
